Redesigning Your Home Is A Fun Project

Even if improvements are practical and not aesthetic, people are foregoing the fixes until they are more sure of their budget. However, if your home is dingy and uninviting, it may be time for a few changes to make everyone feel better. Maybe you are passing on this year’s summer vacation, or you will spend the holidays at home. To make these sacrifices more bearable, create a comfortable, inviting environment. For a fraction of the cost it would take to completely revamp a room, you can make small improvements that make things more cozy. Whether it is adding piano lights or a few throw pillows, a warm, cozy room is great. If you live in the Vermont area, consider visiting the House of Troy for affordable, stylish lighting. Once the mood in a room is set with lighting, you can add other items that make the environment inviting.
Aside from lighting, a great addition is color. If you have always preferred neutral colors in paint and furniture, it may be time for a change. Simply with the addition of color, you can make a room more inviting. Sometimes people assume pops of color have to be red or orange, in blindingly bright shades. However, if the color scheme in your room is currently in shades of brown and tan, colors like blue and green are a great addition. You can choose deep shades like forest and navy, or you can lighten things up during the warmer months with pale blue and lime green. Even small changes will make the environment more interesting and fun to spend time in.
You can also add pattern to the room. This can be done with textiles. You can soften a room and add interest with pillows or throws with plaid, toile, or paisley. Base your choices on your current furnishings and determine what style they are. Choose a similar style of fabric for the accents. For instance,if you have classic furniture in dark, heavy woods, plaid throw pillows will look great. If your furnishings feature clean lines and light woods, opt for more graphic patterns that are somewhat modern. You can install wallpaper or prints for more pattern. Sometimes by just adding a few pieces of art to a room, you can liven it up and create interest. If there is no art that suits your style, consider framing family photos and displaying them in a gallery-like manner.
Creating an inviting room does not have to cost a fortune. Look for affordable, stylish changes you can make to design your home. The entire family will appreciate the effort.
